It’s estimated that Americans use social media for more than an hour a day. That’s quite a chunk of time! If you invested 15 of those minutes to health-promoting activities, you could transform your life.
Here are some ideas:
1. Make a green smoothie.
Throw some spinach, kale, coconut milk, banana, and pineapple into your blender, and whip up some antioxidant-laden, green goodness.
2. Plant something.
Get dirty and get planting! If you have a garden, get out there and work your land. If you want a garden, here’s your chance to start one. If you don’t have any outdoor space, putting plants in your home is a wonderful way to purify your indoor air.
3. Go for a walk.
Go outside and get moving. Go for a walk and enjoy the fresh air, natural light, and the beauty of nature.
4. Do some sun salutations.
Get your OM on. Work on your flexibility and strength while breathing life and energy into every cell in your body.
5. Meditate.
Try to reel in that monkey mind. Are you one of those folks who has always wanted to meditate? Start today! Spend 15 minutes trying to focus and quiet your mind.
6. Prep some meals.
A fancy term for this is mise en place. Know what you’re going to cook? Well, organize and arrange your ingredients, so your meal is easy to whip up when the time comes. Get chopping!
7. Have a dance party in your living room.
Put your favorite music on and shake what you got. Enjoy 15 minutes of heart-pumping self-expression – you’ll feel exhilarated.
8. Organize your fridge.
Throw out that three-week old Thai food you keep seeing every time you open the refrigerator. Organize your fridge so that you can easily find what you need when you open it.
9. Take an Epsom salt bath.
Relax in a warm tub with 2 to 4 cups of Epsom salts. You’ll soothe aching muscles while hydrating your skin and absorbing some much needed magnesium.
10. Sign up for some volunteer activities.
Get out there and make a difference! Sign up to volunteer at that community garden, senior center, or soup kitchen that you’ve been meaning to help.
11. Plan your meals for the week.
Want to eat healthfully but can’t seem to get it together? Plan your meals. Put pen to paper and make a meal calendar.
12. Make a grocery list.
Tired of walking aimlessly around the grocery store trying to remember what items you need only to return home with organic Madagascar vanilla beans and a handful of leeks? Make a list and shop with intention next time.
13. Go outside and spend time in nature.
Go outside. Sit on a bench, lay on the ground, gaze at the sky, or hug a tree. Breathe in fresh air and connect with our beautiful planet.
14. Make some broth.
Also known as liquid gold. Don’t get the store-bought stuff. Make your own. Throw veggie scraps, stewing bones (if you eat meat), spices, herbs and a smidge of apple cider vinegar into a crockpot full of water and cook on low for 24 hours. Yum!
15. Call someone you love and connect with them.
Been meaning to call a dear friend or family member? Pick up the phone and call them. Let them know that you’ve been thinking about them and take a few minutes to catch up.
